The two talk about their shared skeptism of the hype around Autonomous Vehicles and the unfounded expectation they will solve congestion issues, and how that led to the report.
Les explained "There are some interesting statements that have been made in relation to Autonomous Vehicles, for instance that they would solve congestion. Our view is that if you were to simply change one driven vehicle with one autonomous vehicle, which then circulate round thusly, as opposed to being parked at an end destination, we were puzzled as to how that would reduce congestion"
The two also touched on the work Steven Burgess has been doing and the growing recognition of the need for place making, and the value of cities

Putting infrastructure in place that allows you to connect with, and live alongside in a harmonious way, with your neighbours is all about what high density living is”
