Gilbert is the founder and Managing Director of Australia’s preeminent Placemaking consultancy, Village Well.
As a pioneer and leading voice in Placemaking and the mainstreet movement, Gilbert has gained an international reputation for being a skilled speaker and facilitator who is deeply connected to Placemaking and the social, cultural and economic prosperity it brings to communities.
Gilbert’s greatest joy comes from inspiring people, communities and industry to develop their vision for dynamic, resilient and loved places. He has facilitated the transformation of over 1000 cities, towns, mainstreets and public places into admired destinations.
Gilbert leads a multi-disciplinary team of Placemakers, researchers, event and place curation experts and designers at Village Well, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Steven Burgess is an engineer and urban strategist with over 30 years experience in the public and private sector. He was the principal author of the book “Complete Streets – Guidelines to Urban Street Design” published in 2010 and has been an interntional reviewer for two other street design guidelines. He is a very popular speaker and facilitator on urban issues and regularly speaks to industry groups, conferences on people, places and prosperity.
Steven has been a major contributor throughout his career to transport policy integration working on the long-term relationships between urban form, transport, parking, and vitality.
