MRCagney advised Hamilton City Council on the development of a comprehensive parking strategy that aims to ensure sufficient parking is available in the right place and at the right price.
The Parking Management Action Plan identifies a range of measures designed to encourage more efficient use of existing parking resources. The key recommendations included the removal of minimum parking requirements from Hamilton’s District Plan, the development of a performance based parking management policy, and the establishment of a transport management association to coordinate transport services (including but not limited to parking).
This approach to parking management will not only help Hamilton City better address existing parking issues as well as capture a host of economic, social, and environmental benefits. To support implementation of the strategy, MRCagney provided economic and financial analysis of the proposed policies and recommended an approach to public consultation on the changes.
