City Planning

City planning is at the forefront of making our urban areas sustainable and a great place to live, work, and play. In achieving these objectives for our clients, MRCagney takes a long term view of community interests, is proactive in dealing with decision makers and communities, and produces informed outcomes that accord with international best practice.

Our city planning services strive for optimum land use solutions as land use has a significant impact on an urban area’s form, function, and economic competitiveness. The integration of these land uses with transport is also a critical component of successful city planning.

MRCagney takes a comprehensive and multi disciplinary approach to its city planning projects to deliver sustainable urban environments for the community.

Given the variances in planning, regulatory and approval processes that exist in different jurisdictions,  our service offerings are tailored to our client's needs in each region.

New Zealand

Specialised Fields

MRCagney’s New Zealand planning team works closely with our other practices to deliver specialist integrated advice and offer specialist services in land-use transport integration.

Parking

MRCagney has developed a reputation as one of Australasia’s leading consultants in all facets of parking. The re-drafting of District Plan provisions, including design criteria/guidelines and custom designed consultation strategies, are at the forefront of the regulatory aspect of parking reform. In New Zealand, we have provided planning advice on parking to numerous local authorities including Auckland, Hamilton City, New Plymouth District, Rotorua District, Christchurch City, and Whangarei District councils.

Strategic Land Use Planning

MRCagney provides high quality strategic planning advice on the integration of land use and transport – spatially, vertically and the overall land use mix – to ensure that both urban development and transport objectives are met. We can provide strategic land use planning for infrastructure projects, spatial plans, local area plans and corridor studies.

Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Through our registered CPTED practitioners, MRCagney undertakes CPTED reviews. We enable discussion on matters of safety grounded in established principles, rather than personal preferences. We provide visual aids for CPTED along with expertise in consultation, statistical and demographic analysis and site assessments. We work with architects and engineers to implement our recommendations and can provide advice on CPTED and District Plans.
